Kotzebue

The Native Village of Kotzebue lies 33 miles/53 km north of the Arctic Circle on the west coast of Alaska. The community is named for a Russian explorer who explored the area in 1818; the traditional name for the site is Kikiktagruk. 70% of the population of over 3,000 is Native Alaskan.
