Barrow

Barrow, Alaska sits 320 miles/515 km north of the Arctic Circle on the Chukchi Sea coast and holds the distinction of being the northermost community on the mainland of North America. The traditional name for the community was Ukpeagvik, meaning 'place where snowy owls are hunted.' The modern day name of Barrow came from nearby Point Barrow, the northermost point in the United States.
